TIGER SHARKS COMPETE AT MONETT INVITATIONAL

 

Twenty-eight Tiger Sharks joined the other 380 swimmers in Monett on June 15 and 16 for the Monett McDonalds Invitational swim meet. Over 400 swimmers from 13 teams competed in the 95 plus degree weather that lasted all weekend.

 

This was an A/B meet, which means that the swimmers are divided into the 2 groups based on their entry times. In the A division medals were awarded to 1st – 3rd place and ribbons were awarded to 4th – 6th place. In the B division medals were given to 1st place winners and ribbons were given to 2nd through 6th place. Relay ribbons were handed out to 1st – 3rd place.

 

Of the 13 teams that competed Lamar came in 4th place. Molly Kellenberger placed 2nd in the girls 6 and under age group, Shelby Haskins placed 2nd in the 8 and under girls and Kenna Roland finished 3rd in the 9 and 10 year old girls division.

 

“A” DIVISION RESULTS

 

In the 6 and under group Haydn Bartholomew placed 5th in the 25 yard freestyle and 3rd in the 25 yard backstroke. For the girls Molly Kellenberger placed 2nd in the 25 yard freestyle, backstroke and butterfly. She also placed 3rd in the 25 yard breaststroke.

 

The 8 and under boys featured Griffen Leininger placing 5th in the 25 yard freestyle and 4th in the 100 yard individual medley. Kip Roland finished 4th in the 25 yard freestyle and 7th in the 50 yard freestyle. Lincoln Kaderly rounded out the boys group by placing 1st in the 25 yard butterfly, 5th in the 50 yard freestyle and 3rd in the 25 yard breaststroke.

 

For the girls Jasmine Bello placed 4th in the 25 yard freestyle, 6th in the 25 yard butterfly and 5th in the 50 yard freestyle. Shelby Haskins had 3rd place finishes in the 25 yard freestyle, 100 yard individual medley, 25 yard butterfly, 50 yard freestyle and 25 yard breaststroke. She also added to her medal collection with a 1st place finish in the 25 yard backstroke. Jessica White also took home a medal for her 1st place finish in the 25 yard breaststroke.

 

Swimming for the 10 and under girls was Madison Kellenberger, Margaret Kellenberger, Chynna Moore, Ryan O’Sullivan, Kenna Roland, Ashton Kirkpatrick, Emily Kremp, Josie Kaderly and Hannah Moyer. Madison placed 8th in the 50 yard freestyle, 4th in the 50 yard backstroke, 7th in the 100 yard individual medley, 3rd in the 50 yard butterfly and 2nd in the 50 yard breaststroke. Margaret took home medals for her 1st place finish in the 50 yard backstroke and 2nd place finish in the 50 yard butterfly. Chynna also won a medal for her 2nd place showing in the 100 yard individual medley. Kenna had a great meet taking home 4 medals and 3 ribbons. She placed 2nd in both the 100 yard individual medley and 100 yard freestyle. She placed 3rd in both the 50 yard freestyle and 50 yard backstroke. She also placed 4th in the 50 yard butterfly and 8th in the 50 yard breaststroke.

 

Representing the 11 and 12 year old girls was Amber Carter. She placed 6th in the 50 yard freestyle, 4th in the 50 yard backstroke, 7th in the 50 yard butterfly and 6th in the 100 yard freestyle

 

Andrew Fowler, swimming for the 13 and 14 year old men placed 7th in both the 50 yard freestyle and 50 yard butterfly. He also finished 5th in the 50 yard backstroke, 6th in the 200 yard individual medley and 8th in the 100 yard freestyle. For the girls Kailey Roland placed 7th in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events.

 

The 8 and under girls relay team of Hattie Gilkey, Shelby Haskins, Jasmine Bello and Jessica White took home a 3rd place ribbon for the 100 yard medley. Another 3rd place ribbon, this time for the 100 yard freestyle went to the relay team of Jasmine Bello, Jessica White, Molly Kellenberger and Shelby Haskins. The 10 and under women’s relay team of Chynna Moore, Madison Kellenberger, Kenna Roland and Hannah Moyer took home two 1st place ribbons; one for the 100 yard medley and one for the 100 yard freestyle.

 

 

“B” DIVISION RESULTS

 

Chase Kellenberger led off the 6 and under boys with a 5th place finish in the 25 yard backstroke and a 6th place finish in the 25 yard freestyle. For the 8 and under boys Griffen Leininger placed 4th in the 25 yard backstroke. Kip Roland placed 5th in the 25 yard backstroke, 2nd in the 100 yard individual medley, 3rd in the 25 yard butterfly and 5th in the 25 yard breaststroke. For the girls Jessica White placed 5th in the 25 yard butterfly and Grace Compton finished 5th in the 25 yard freestyle, 6th in the 25 yard backstroke and 7th in the 100 yard individual medley.

 

The 10 and under girls featured Margaret Kellenberger placing 8th in the 100 yard individual medley and 6th in the 50 yard breaststroke. Chynna Moore took home ribbons for her 1st place finish in the 100 yard freestyle and 3rd place in the 50 yard breaststroke. Ryan O’Sullivan finished 7th in the 50 yard breaststroke and Josie Kaderly placed 5th in the 50 yard breaststroke, 7th in the 100 yard freestyle and 6th in the 50 yard butterfly.

 

Kyle Compton, swimming in the 13 and 14 year old division placed 5th in the 50 yard freestyle and Kailey Roland placed 5th in the 50 yard breaststroke.

 

The 8 and under boys relay team of Chase Kellenberger, Kip Roland, Griffen Leininger and Haydn Bartholomew took home a ribbon for their 1st place finish in the 100 yard medley. The 10 and under girls relay team of Ashton Kirkpatrick, Morgan Cook, Josie Kaderly and Margaret Kellenberger placed 4th in the 100 yard freestyle.

 

These Tiger Sharks also competed: Rose Compton, Erin O’Sullivan, Megan Thieman and Jacob Haskins, who swam in 6 events.

 

The Tiger Sharks next competition will be the Carthage Invitational held July 22-23.
