TIGER SHARKS SPEND ANOTHER WEEKEND AT THE POOL

 

This time it was the Carthage pool. Fifty Lamar Tigers Sharks joined another 475 at the Carthage Invitational held July 22-23. But this time the weather was a tolerable 85 degrees and there were plenty of shady spots. Out of the 13 teams that competed Lamar took home 4th place honors.

 

This was another A/B meet. In the A division medals were given out to 1st – 3rd place and ribbons to 4th – 6th. In the B division ribbons were handed out to the top 6 swimmers in each event.

 


A DIVISION RESULTS

 

In the 6 and under age bracket Haydn Bartholomew led the way with an 8th place finish in the 25 yard freestyle and a 5th place finish in the 25 yard butterfly. For the girls Molly Kellenberger placed 2nd in the 25 yard breaststroke, 3rd in the 25 yard freestyle and 4th in both the 25 yard butterfly and 25 yard backstroke.

 

For the 8 and under boys Griffen Leininger placed 5th in the 25 yard butterfly, 7th in both the 25 yard backstroke and 100 yard individual medley and 8th in both the 50 yard freestyle and 25 yard breaststroke. Lincoln Kaderly placed 3rd in the 100 yard individual medley, 4th in the 25 yard freestyle, 5th in both the 25 yard backstroke and 50 yard freestyle and 6th in the 25 yard butterfly. For the girls Jasmine Bello placed 3rd in both the 25 and 50 yard freestyle, 4th in the 25 yard butterfly and 5th in the 25 yard backstroke and 100 yard individual medley. Shelby Haskins finished 1st in 4 of her 6 individual events. They were the 25 yard freestyle, 100 yard individual medley, 25 yard butterfly and 25 yard breaststroke. She also placed 2nd in the 25 yard backstroke and 50 yard freestyle. Grace Compton placed 3rd in the 25 yard breaststroke.

 

For the 10 and under boys Jordon Steever placed 8th in the 50 yard freestyle. For the girls Madison Kellenberger placed 2nd in the 50 yard backstroke and 3rd in both the 50 yard butterfly and 50 yard breaststroke. She also finished 6th in the 100 yard individual medley, 7th in the 100 yard freestyle and 8th in the 50 yard freestyle. Chynna Moore swam to a 5th place finish in the 100 yard freestyle and 8th place in both the 50 yard backstroke and 50 yard freestyle. Kenna Roland placed 8th in the 100 yard freestyle.

 

The 11 and 12 year old girls featured Rose Compton placing 4th in the 50 yard breaststroke and Amber Carter finishing 6th in the 50 yard backstroke, 100 yard individual medley and 100 yard freestyle. Brittany Steever took home medals for her 2nd place finishes in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events. She also took home medals for 3rd place in the 50 yard backstroke and 3rd place in the 100 yard individual medley. Brittany also finished 4th in the 50 yard butterfly and 5th in the 50 yard breaststroke.

 

Andrew Fowler, swimming for the 13 and 14 year olds finished 7th in the 50 yard freestyle, 50 yard backstroke and 50 yard breaststroke. He also placed 8th in the 200 yard individual medley, the 50 yard butterfly and 100 yard freestyle. For the girls Kailey Roland finished 8th in the 100 yard freestyle.

 

In the 15-18 year old division Brian Main placed 5th in the 50 yard backstroke, 200 yard individual medley and 50 yard breaststroke.  He then went on to place 6th in the 50 yard freestyle and 8th in both the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events. For the girls Mary Catherine Geddie placed 8th in the 50 yard butterfly and Megan Thieman finished 3rd in the 50 yard breaststroke.

 

The 8 and under relay team of Hattie Gilkey, Shelby Haskins, Jasmine Bello and Jessica White placed 2nd in the 100 yard medley and the 10 and under team of Jack Gilkey, William Tennel, Jordon Steever and JT Tucker placed 3rd in the 100 yard medley relay. The 10 under girls relay team of Chynna Moore, Madison Kellenberger, Kenna Roland and Josie Kaderly finished 2nd in both the 100 yard medley and the 100 freestyle events. The 11 and 12 year old relay team of Amber Carter, Paige Pierson, Brittany Steever and Rose Compton placed 2nd in both the 200 yard medley and the 200 yard freestyle.

 

 

B DIVISION RESULTS

 

Swimming for the 6 and under division were Wyatt Hull, Truman Kaderly, Case Tucker, Donte Stahl, Dominick Givens, Chase Kellenberger, Haydn Bartholomew, Molly Kellenberger and Jacey Stahl. Donte finished 6th in the 25 yard backstroke and Case placed 11th in the 25 yard freestyle. Dominick placed 2nd in the 25 yard backstroke, 4th in the 25 yard breaststroke and 6th in the 25 yard freestyle. Chase placed 5th in the 25 yard backstroke and Haydn finished 5th in the 25 yard breaststroke,

 

For the 8 and under group Kip Roland took home a ribbon for his 1st place victory in the 100 yard individual medley and Jessica White placed 6th in the 25 yard butterfly. Grace Compton placed 7th in the 25 yard freestyle and 8th in the 25 yard backstroke.

 

Jack Gilkey, swimming for the 10 under boys finished 6th in the 100 yard individual medley and William Tennel placed 7th in the 50 yard breaststroke. Jordon Steever placed 1st in the 50 yard butterfly and 4th in both the 100 yard freestyle and 50 yard breaststroke. He also finished 5th in the 100 yard individual medley. Evan Moore took home a ribbon for his 1st place finish in the 50 yard backstroke and 3rd place showing in the 50 yard freestyle.

 

The 10 under girls featured Chynna Moore placing 4th in the 50 yard breaststroke and 8th in the 50 yard butterfly. Ryan O’Sullivan finished 8th in the 50 yard breaststroke and Kenna Roland placed 1st in the 50 yard butterfly. Josie Kaderly placed 3rd in the 50 yard breaststroke, 4th in the 50 yard freestyle, 7th in the 50 yard butterfly and 8th in the 100 yard individual medley.

 

The 11 and 12 year old bracket featured Jacob Haskins swimming to a 7th place finish in the 50 yard backstroke, Thomas O’Sullivan placing 6th in the 50 yard breaststroke and Jantzen Davis finishing 8th in the 50 yard backstroke. For the girls Amber Carter placed 8th in the 50 yard breaststroke and Paige Pierson finishing 6th in both the 100 yard individual medley and 50 yard butterfly.

 

Kyle Compton, representing the 13 and 14 year old boys placed 2nd in the 50 yard breaststroke and 7th in the 50 yard freestyle while Kailey Roland placed 1st in the 50 yard butterfly for the girls.

 

Sean Rhodes, swimming in the 15-18 year old division placed 2nd in the 50 yard freestyle, 3rd in the 200 yard individual medley and 4th in the 50 yard backstroke. For the girls Kimberley Marti placed 7th in the 200 yard freestyle and Jennifer Marti finished 2nd in the 50 yard backstroke and 8th in the 200 yard individual medley.

 

The 8 and under boys relay team of Kip Roland, Lincoln Kaderly, Griffen Leininger and Haydn Bartholomew finished 1st in the 100 yard medley and 4th in the 100 yard freestyle. The team of Dominick Givens, Wyatt Hull, Chase Kellenberger and Donte Stahl placed 7th in the 100 yard freestyle. For the girls the relay team of Shelby Haskins, Jasmine Bello, Jessica White and Molly Kellenberger finished 3rd in the 100 yard freestyle.

 

The 10 and under team of William Tennel, Haydn Bartholomew, Zane Hull and Jordon Steever finished 5th in the 100 yard freestyle relay and the girls team of Jerica Stahl, Ashton Kirkpatrick, Ryan O’Sullivan and Jacey Stahl finished 3rd in the 100 yard freestyle and 5th in the 100 yard medley.

 

These Tiger Sharks also competed in the Invitational: Morgan Cook swam in 4 events. Blake Elam swam in 2, Jordon Finney competed in 2 events and Carmen Miller swam in 2 events.
