Today my grandpa died. It was a very sad day. They had decided the day before to take him off life support. So we all made it up to KU before they did that. After running numerous tests to make sure there was nothing they could do they took him off life support around 1pm.  The funeral will be on March 22nd. I was a pallbearer as was my cousin Tim, Chip and Clydean's 2 sons. It has been a very sad year with Jimmy passing away not even a year earlier. I don't know how Kathy stayed together. She is a strong lady.

When we got home the kids and watched some movies and made some popcorn. They lasted till about 11:30. I thought they would make it to midnight but 11:30 is pretty good, especially for Marina. She is usually out by 10:00.

Lisa had New Year's Day off so we rang in the new year with a late lunch at Carino's in Joplin and a movie. We saw Narnia.

December 29

Lisa and the kids were supposed to go to Branson today with Gerrette, Nick and Nolan but Gerrette's Great-Aunt passed away so they weren't able to go. So Gerald and Darla went with them instead. The Perez's came down today for Christmas. We switch years and it was their turn to come down here this year. My mom was not feeling good so she was not able to make it. We had a lot of fun. CJ and Raina are getting so big. I am sure that is what Tammy is saying about Jantzen and Marina. Time goes by so fast. After dinner and presents we headed over to the church where the kids had their Christmas program.

December 17

This is the year that the Perez's come down here for Christmas but we just found out my cousin Jimmy is in bad health and may not make it until next Christmas. He and Kate are home for Christmas this year, as well as Tim, Tyler and Cali so we went up to Kathy's house to see them all at the Burns' party. It had been a while since we were up there for Christmas so it was nice to see everybody. Just about everybody was there except Grandpa and Clydean as well as Joe and his family from Dallas. We spent a few hours there and headed out. We had a big weekend ahead of us and the snow was starting to come down.

December 4

Jantzen did not go with us to Pittsburg because he had a birthday party to go to for Zack P which included a sleepover. He had fun. It was his first sleepover, sort of.

October 31

Halloween...probably our favorite time of the year. In honor of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Jantzen and Marina were Willy Wonka and an Oompa Loompa this year. Lisa found some really cute costumes and they looked great. We went up on the Square for a little bit and then came home. Giving out candy to the trick or treaters has always been their favorite thing to do at Halloween and this year was no exception. Jantzen, err, I mean Willy Wonka was all set up. He had his treat bags on the porch and had the radio playing some Willy Wonka music. It was kind of a dreary, chilly night. We gave out 103 of the 120 treat bags the kids and Lisa made up. So we had quite a bit in spite of the weather.

October 29

Marina had a chess tournament in Kansas City today. Angie met us up there and took Jantzen for the weekend. Marina's tournament was at Penn Valley College. She did pretty good, winning 4 and losing 2. She competed in the K-8 bracket and got a medal for 9th Place out of 31. This is only her 3rd tournament. Most of the kids she played were 5th and 6th graders but 2 she beat were older than her. The Lamar team won 2nd Place out of 11 schools.

October 22

Lisa had another rare day off so we headed back to Branson  We were actually going to go the day before (Friday) but Lisa slept in. When we got to the SDC parking lot Lisa has this bad look on her face. She told me that if we have to park way back here in the fields it is not good. It will be a madhouse in there. Probably not the relaxing day we were looking for. So we decided to go to Celebration City instead, which is never as crowded. It didn't open for a couple of hours so we had lunch at Landry's (my favorite) and then did some shopping in the Outlet Malls.

We had fun at Celebration City. It was pretty relaxing there. It is never busy for some reason. It was a good day.

HERE ARE SOME PICTURES

October 16

Marina is up in Kansas City at a Chiefs game today so it is just Jantzen and me today. We goofed around on the train tracks for a while and then went to the park.

October 15

Tonight we went to The Maize in Verona. It is towards Springfield, about an hour away. It was a neat place. We got there about 5pm when it was still light. We did some pumpkin chuckin' and fired some ears of corn in the corn cannon. Jantzen and Marina even went on a paddle boat ride. We were getting kinda hungry so we went in town to get some BBQ and then came back about dark. Man was it busy then. When we left there were probably 50 people there. When we got back an hour later there were at least 500. The only thing we had not done was the corn maze so we headed in the first half of it. It went pretty good. Nothing scary, not too dark and not too crowded. It took us about 30 minutes to go through that and then we headed to part 2. This side was a lot more scary and a lot more confusing. There were people jumping out of the corn and guys in mask chasing us with chainsaws. But the scariest part was we couldn't get out. We were lost. So lost in fact that a guy with a chainsaw had to show us the way out. I know you are thinking how hard could it be? Well it was tough. But was fun none the less.

October 1

Today is Lisa's birthday and we took her to Branson for the day. We had a lot of fun. We went to SDC in the morning and Celebration City about 3pm.

September 25

One of my projects this summer was to fill in some holes and level the low ground in the yard so it could be limed and seeded this fall. So I have had some big piles of dirt for a while. I just needed to rent a Bobcat to spread it. Well I finally got to doing it this weekend. It was kinda fun. Of course the kids wanted to drive it but they would have torn up the yard. But we did go around the block and mess around in it a little.

September 16

We went down to Joplin tonight and had dinner at Red Lobster and then went to Carousel Park

September 10

Lisa had to go up for a conference in Kansas last Wednesday. So the kids and I went up there Friday after school and spent the weekend with her. We stayed in Room 245 at The Fairmont (formerly the Ritz Carlton). It is a nice hotel on the Plaza.

We got into town about 6:30 and went out to eat at Brio Tuscan Grill; an Italian restaurant right down on the Plaza. It was very good. Then after dinner we walked around the Plaza for a little bit before headed back to the hotel.

Saturday morning while Lisa was at class we went up to Leavenworth to put some flowers on Grandma Moore's grave. Tammy was busy that day so we couldn't visit too long. But it was still nice to see her. After that we headed downtown to see my dad who had his car in a car show. We headed back to the hotel about 2pm to meet up with Lisa. Then all 4 of us went over to Lee's Summit and a neat place called Paradise Park. It was like an amusement park-arcade kind of place. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and then the kids played around. They did the bumper cars, foam ball factory, rock climbing wall and go carts. It was a fun place to spend a couple hours.

Lisa and I dropped the kids off and went to eat at The Oak Room at the hotel. After that we went to the Ameristar Casino. Yes, a casino. It was a first for both of us. We were such fish out of water. We spent a couple hours there with the slot machines. It was fun.

We checked out of the hotel about Noon and went to Union Station and Science City. That is always a fun place. Especially when there is hardly anybody there. After a few hours there we went over to Crown Center and had a late lunch at Fritz'. It was a god weekend.

July 22

We took Lisa up to KC this weekend. She has been working so hard and we knew she needed a getaway, if only for a couple days. We stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge. It is a neat place. We stayed in Room 360, the Kid Cabin. It was a themed room with bunk beds, a fireplace and lots or room. But the big deal is the awesome indoor water park.

We checked into our room about 4pm and had time enough to change clothes and head over to 84th and Wornall for dinner at Tassos. It is a nice, little restaurant with Greek food. It was pretty good. After dinner we headed back to the lodge and swam for a couple hours.

The next morning we had breakfast downstairs and then swam for another hour or so. Then we went to Crown Center and did a little shopping. We had lunch at A Streetcar Named Desire. On our way out of town we grabbed some Bryant's BBQ to go.

Lisa took Marina to Jefferson City for the State Chess Championship today. She played 6 rounds winning 2 of them. Which isn't bad for only her 2nd tournament. The Lamar Chess team won 2nd place overall. They were in 1st place up until the last round. That is pretty good considering there were over 40 Missouri schools competing.

February 27

Today was the kid's birthday party. We reserved Lazer City in Joplin. We had the whole place to ourselves for 2 hours. They each invited 5 friends and we had a lot of other family and friends there. I think there were 22 kids all together. It was a lot of fun.

Today is the kids 11th birthday. I can't believe it...eleven years old. Time really flies. They wanted hamburgers and hotdogs for their birthday meal so Lisa fixed it all up and Darla and Gerald came over.

February 6

Marina went to her first Chess tournament today in Lee's Summit. It was a huge one, with over 200 kids there. Marina lost her first 2 matches but won her next 4. She went 4/2 for the day which is unheard of for somebody's first tourney. They are usually lucky if they win 1 or 2 games...Marina won 4. And most of them were against 7th and 8th graders. She won 16th place out of 57 kids in her bracket. We are so proud of her. On top of that the Lamar Chess Team won 1st place in the tournament. It was a long day but worth it.

November 27-28

Angie took Marina up to KC for the weekend for a Chiefs game and Lisa had to work. So it was just Jantzen and me. We headed down to Joplin to see the new SpongeBob movie. Then we went to Chucky Cheese for a late lunch.

Marina had a great time at the game, even though they lost. She loves the Chiefs. She did get to see Dante Hall (her favorite player) return a kickoff for a touchdown. So that made up for the loss a little.

November 26

We headed over to Darla's today for Thanksgiving.  Angie came down from KC. They all made some good food, as always. Even Marina was in on the cooking again this year.

November 16

Jantzen won a tournament at Chess Club today. He was pretty excited. He beat about 20 kids and won a big bag of M&M's.

October 29 - November 1

Today is the day we leave for Walt Disney World in Orlando. It is our 9th trip. This was actually Lisa's birthday present but we couldn't get any earlier flights than October 29, which was ok because we went while they were having MNSSHP.

HERE ARE PICS AND DETAILS OF THE TRIP

October 24

I had to take Raoul to Dr. Loden in Joplin today. She was not eating and looking terrible. He ran some tests and her blood sugar was 14. Normal would be about 100. So, basically she was in a coma. He kept her for a couple days and managed to get her looking a little better. I picked her up Tuesday. She was looking a little better but still not as perky as she usually is. Saturday she died. Most likely from liver disease, which is not uncommon for Green Iguanas. We buried her down at the creek next to Tabby. She will be missed.

October 23

We went to a party Katie and Randy were having a party over at their house. It was fun.

October 22

Today we went up to Baldwin City, KS for a Haunted Halloween train ride. We took Jerry with us, seeing how he is a big train lover like us. There was no school today so we left about 3pm. Mrs. Cobb had conferences and Lisa was in Tulsa so it was just the 3 kids and me.

September 23

The turtle eggs we have been watching all summer have finally hatched. It looks like she laid between 12-15 eggs. We were able to save 7 baby turtles. The rest were either bad eggs or animals got to the eggs. We took the 7 home and put them in an aquarium. One died but the other 6 are doing great. They are red-eared sliders, a water turtle pretty common to this area. Right now they are about the size of a 50 cent piece. They are so cute.

September 6

Went on 3 Geocaches today. Found 2.

August 31

It is Fair time again in Lamar. This time it was bittersweet. Early Saturday morning a fire broke out on the NW side of the square destroying 3 business' and almost a 4th. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The Fair did go on.

The kids had a great time as usual. They both got to go in the dunk time and Marina even rode the Tilt a Whirl, which is a big step for her. Saturday morning Marina and Angie walked the Lamar 5k.

August 15

Lisa had the day off so she had the great idea of heading over to Stockton Lake for the day. We rented a 21' pontoon boat and cruised the lake. It was a beautiful day. The kids had a blast driving the boat and goofing around. We stopped every hour or so and the playing in the water, even jumping off Chicken Rock.  It was a great way to spend the day.

Pic 1   Pic 2   Pic 3

August 14

The kids have been bugging me all year about doing another Lemonade stand so we did that today. We also had a jar full of M&M's. The person who guessed closest to the amount (1616) won it. Cade Payne won it with a guess of 1254. Not a lot of people came. Probably because it wasn't a very hot day. But the kids still had fun. Probably 30 people came.

HERE IS A PICTURE

August 13

Today was a beautiful day so we headed south to do some Geocaching. We went looking for 3 but only found 2. We found one in Joplin and one in Galena. Then we took Lisa some lunch in Monett. While in Monett we saw some trains a took a picture.

August 7

Marina had her last softball game in Carthage tonight. She had a lot of fun this summer. She was invited to play in the 10 and Under league in Carthage as well as 2 tournaments. She also played in the Lamar league. A total of 41 games altogether. She would have played more if she could. But dad thinks the drive to Carthage every Thursday won't be missed. We are really proud of her. Her last league finished 2nd Place.

July 28

Lisa and the kids headed to Branson for the day. They planned on being at White Water all day but It was cool day so they stayed there for a few hours then headed over to Silver Dollar City.

We had some fun in the rain today.

July 10 - 14

Today we headed up to Minnesota for a little vacation with the Perez's. Tammy had the idea last year to do a family vacation up to the Mall of America in Minneapolis. We had never done that before, all 8 of us, so it was fun.

We left early Saturday morning and met Tammy in Kearney, MO. Then she followed us up to Minneapolis. We arrived at the Marriot Residence Inn about 4pm. We stayed at The Depot, which is a part of the Residence Inn. It has a neat, indoor water park, designed like a...you guessed it....train. The pool was only open Thursday-Sunday so the kids swam the rest of the night.

Sunday morning the kids swam some more and then about noon we headed over to the Science Center. It was fun.

Monday we headed over to the Mall of America. This place is huge. In the center is Camp Snoopy. Basically, it is an amusement park indoors. It was incredible. At lunchtime we headed upstairs to eat at Bubba Gumps. It was a fun place.

Tuesday Lisa and the kids took a trolley ride downtown. Then we headed over to the Mall of America again. After lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe,  we went to the Underwater Adventure. Well, they did, I went shopping. After that we split up. We went to the Oceanair's Seafood Club for dinner. I think the Perez's did some shopping and took some more pictures.

Wednesday we all headed back. It was a great trip. Make sure you see all the pictures we took.

July 7

June 29

The kids baseball season wrapped up this week, sort of. Jantzen played his last game last Thursday and Marina played her final game last night. She was asked to play in another Carthage league in July so she will have some more games. But, the Lamar league is over. They both did real well. Jantzen played most of the year on 1st base. He really liked doing that. He got several people out, hardly dropping any balls that were thrown his way. He is getting better at batting. A lot of walks this year.

Marina is also doing pretty good. She loves being catcher and is really getting the hang of it. She, also, did a lot of walking when she was up to bat. But she also hit some good ones. You can look at the schedules and see they lost most of their games but that really doesn't mean much. Usually whoever has the better pitcher that game is the team that will win. If your pitcher is walking a lot of batters, then that is where most of the runs come from.

But, all in all, they had a great season. Make sure you check out the pictures from this year.

June 26

We went up to Nevada today and found 2 Geocaches.

June 21

Today we went  down to the Marketplace Grill in Joplin for some Father's Day food. Angie and Amie didn't come again so it was just us 6. It was some good stuff.

June 20

I took the kids up on the Square for Truman Days today. We played some games and went in the Jumping Castle then had some lunch. The weather was still nice when we left so we headed to the ball field and hit some balls. Then we spent the rest of the day playing outside. It was a beautiful day.

June 8

May 27

Woke up at 1am to tornado sirens. Wasn't sure if I was dreaming or not so I turned on the Weather Channel and sure enough Barton County was under a tornado warning. So I woke the kids up and we headed over to Grammy's. Lisa was in Monet. We stayed over there for less than an hour and went home. I don't think there was any damage done.

May 24

Summer School started today. Jantzen is taking Sports and Games Extravaganza and Brain Boosters. Marina is taking Cooking for Kids and Inside the Human Body. They always have fun. It is only half a day for 4 weeks so they have plenty of summer left.

May 23

Today the Rotary Club sponsored a fishing day for kids at Wheeler Park. Olivia asked Marina if she wanted to go so they headed out there after church. Jantzen and I went up there for about 45 minutes. He was bored and hot so we headed home. Marina and Olivia had fun.

May 22

Today is my Grandma's birthday. The kids and I headed up to Leavenworth to put some flowers on her grave. Then we stopped by and said hi to the Perez's before heading to the Rainforest Cafe and then home.

May 21

The kids have been doing great at baseball/softball. Jantzen has played 2 games now. They won their 1st game with a game winning hit by little Thomas O'Sullivan. The 2nd game they lost by 1 run. Jantzen has been playing 1st base. He really likes that. He has been batting pretty good too.

Marina, also, has been doing real well. Her Carthage league wraps up their season tonight with a double header against the Twisters. I think they are going to play again in July. Her Lamar league has played 3 games so far. Marina has been catching and playing 2nd base. You will have to check out some of the pictures I took of both of them.

May 9

Today is a triple whammy. It is our 12th Wedding Anniversary, Amie's birthday and Mother's Day. Lisa had to work Saturday so we went out to eat for our Anniversary on Friday night. We had a nice dinner down at Arde's Villa in Joplin. Then on Sunday we took Darla out to eat at the Marketplace Grill in Joplin. Amie and Angie weren't there so it was just us 6. Then we headed back to Darla's for some  gardening, softball, bocce ball and grass mowing. It was a good day.

If you want a name with LamarMO.com e-mail address just let me know. It can be anything you want@LamarMO.com.

It has been a while since I added to this page so I thought I better.

The kids are in 2nd grade now.My how time flies. The 1st quarter is almost over. Marina has Mrs. Blaser and Jantzen has Mrs. Cobb.

A couple weeks ago we had another cookout at the creek. We had one a couple years ago and the kids have been asking me when we were gonna do it again. So I packed up my tractor and my chainsaws and away to the creek I went. It took me a full week working 4-5 hours a day to get it in shape. On October 7 a bunch of us got together down there and roasted some hotdogs and tried to catch some fish. No fish but the hot dogs were good.

HERE ARE SOME PICTURES

Lisa has been working hard. Too hard if you ask me but she knows what she is doing. Her birthday was October 1st. Darla and Gerald came over for some cake and presents. The kids and I decided Momma needs a vacation so we are taking her to Walt Disney World for a little Halloween vacation. She will like that.

THE PICS WILL GO HERE WHEN I GET THEM

Jantzen and Marina had their first sleepover last night (10-19). I told them they could once summer was over and things had settled down a little. Jantzen's best friend Brenden came over and Marina invited Jerica. It was alot of fun. We decorated cookies and, of course, the kids showed them every one of their toys. Jerica had to go on a trail ride early Saturday morning but Brenden stayed until the afternoon. Jantzen has had Brenden in his class every year since Kindergarten.

They made this massive Pirate ship. So massive that they had to call the city to see how high the power lines are. YIKES! But they did it. It came out just awesome. First place winner again.

March 10, 2001

Whew! It has a been a while since I put some news on this page. Not that much hasn't been going on around here just that I haven't gotten around to doing it.

The kids and I have been trading sickness' here the past couple months. But hopefully since the nice weather is upon us we will all get better.

The kids 7th birthday was on Friday, February 23. We had a little party here that night with family. Jantzen wasn't feeling too good so he spent most of the time in bed. But he managed to come out later and open up some presents. Imagine that.

On Saturday, February 24 was the BIG party at the Thiebaud. It was kind of a dreary day but we still had a good turn-out. Probably 60 people mostly kids. It was a lot of fun.

Whew! I am back online with a new server. My old server was not taking anymore updates so I had to get rid of them. Anyway, as most of you know we just got back from another fantastic Orlando trip. Be sure to check out the 75 or so pictures I have put up. There are some good ones.

Also, thanks to everybody who sent me E-Mails complimenting me on the Orlando pictures. I really appreciate it.

March 31-April 2

We went to Branson this weekend. Lisa had a CME conference to go to so the kids and I went along for the ride. We stayed at the Chateau on the Lake. It was super nice. It was sitting on top of the hill overlooking everything.

We did manage to get in some playtime while Lisa wasn't in her conference. Silver Dollar City doesn't open until April 5th so we had to find some other things to do. We rode some kid's rides, played goofy golf, went to Ripleys' Believe it or Not, the Winery and. of course, the outlet stores. It was a nice weekend.

February 26

Today was the BIG birthday party. So big we had to rent an auditorium. It was a great party   We had lunch catered from a BBQ place here in town then we ate cake. Then we played DUCK-DUCK-GOOSE and had pony rides. The finale was the piñata. It was a lot of fun. We had close to 75 people there. It was a beautiful day too; about 60 degrees.

Jantzen Jay lost his first baby tooth today. It has been loose for about 3 weeks now and tonight he was pulling on it and it came out. He thought it was pretty cool, especially when the Tooth Fairy left something under his pillow the next morning.

December 24-25

Christmas Eve started out pretty good. I headed up to Kansas City to do some last minute shopping and to pick up some Honey Baked Ham's for family members while Lisa did the cooking for that night. Then the Reno's came over that night for presents and food.

Christmas Eve we all woke up together and opened presents. Santa did everybody pretty good this year. It was a great Holiday Season.

December 18-19

This is the weekend before Christmas that we go up to Kansas City and have a couple party's. One with the Burns' and the other with the Davis'.

We checked into the Ritz Carlton  and headed to Leavenworth to have our party with the Davis'. It is always fun up there. Jantzen and Marina just love Grandpa Joe's pool table and their little poodle, Pierre. That keeps the kids busy for hours. We had a lot of fun. There were lots of good food.

Today we headed over to Aunt Kathy's house for the Burns' party. That is always fun. She has such a beautiful house and there was, again, lots of great food.

I hope everybody had a nice Thanksgiving. Lisa had to work so the kids and I went over to Darla's for a nice dinner. Angie, Amie, Karen, Ronnie and his kids were there.

Friday we went up to Kansas City and did our yearly check in and see the Plaza lights thing. We stayed at the Marriott this time which had a real nice view. We also saw Toy Story 2 at the new theater on the Plaza. What an awesome show. Then, of course, we checked out The Great American Train Store and FAO Shwartz.

November 1

Halloween went pretty good this year. Friday we went up on the Square for trick or treating with the merchants. Then Saturday we went up to Leavenworth and spent the afternoon at Grandma Pat's house. She had a little party with Tammy, CJ, Raina, Aunt Janet and Makynzie. We decorated cupcakes and made some spiders. It was a lot of fun. Then Sunday we gave candy out to the Spooks. Actually, since Halloween was on Sunday, nobody really knew when to trick or treat so we had people coming to the door all weekend; Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Good thing we had enough candy.

August 23-28

This week is Fair Week here in Lamar. As you all probably know the Fair here in August is a pretty big deal. People from all over come to see old friends and ride the rides.

For the last 2 years the kids have been entered in the Kiddie Parade. This year Lisa, Gina, Belinda, Cindy and Katie got together and made a "Tarzan themed" float. It was pretty neat. They all put a lot of work into it. The float was a big trailer decorated up with palm trees and rocks and all the kids dressed up as animals. Jantzen was the only boy so he got to be Tarzan and Marina dressed up as Jane. The other kids dressed up as monkeys and lions and a couple elephants. Even Lisa and her friends dressed up. Lisa was a tiger and her friends were panthers and lions. It was really cute. This year they won 1st place for the float. Then on the next day they won 1st Place in the Rotary Parade. They should be pretty proud.

August 19

Jantzen and Marina started Kindergarten this morning. Lisa took the day off so we could take them to school together. It was sad, in a way, to see your little babies all grown up and going to school but then you think that this is the beginning of the rest of their lives and it's time to cut the strings. When they got home they said they had a lot of fun and can't wait to go back so that is a good sign.

Pic 1     Pic 2     Pic 3

August 14

Jantzen and Marina had a Lemonade stand this morning. Ironically the weather was about 15º cooler than the previous week. Which made it nice for us but didn't make people as thirsty. We had a lot more people last year.. But it was still fun. I even put it on CNC so people would know about it.

August 12

I took the underwater camera over to Beth's pool and snapped some pics. I even got Jantzen to go down the big slide head first. I tell you that boy has no fear of water.

August 10

Jantzen and Marina had their Kindergarten Open House tonight. Lisa had to work so I went solo. We took a tour of the new school and got to see their classrooms. Jantzen will have Mrs. Miller and Marina has Mrs. Wade. They were pretty excited. If you want to see a full list of who's in their class then e-mail me.

August 2-6

We went to the Lake of the Ozarks this week. Lisa had a CME course to take. Lisa took the van to her course each day so the kids and I just hung out at the hotel until she got back in the early afternoon. We stayed busy. They had an indoor pool and game room. Also there was a neat place next door called Miner Mikes. It is like a big Discovery Zone with games and bumper cars, etc.

Lisa, Darla and Marina went down to Joplin tonight to mess around and get Lisa's hair cut. Cliff brought little Kiefer up to the shop to say hi. Lisa said he is a cutie pie. Here is a picture of him they gave us.

July 18

Not too much going on around here (for once). Marina stayed with Darla Thursday night and Jantzen stayed Friday night. Friday night Marina and I went to see Muppets from Space at the new Nevada theater. It was a cute show. Saturday we all went to see Tarzan here in Lamar. It was great. Maybe my favorite Disney show so far.

July 7

Today is Darla's Birthday. Happy Birthday to her. Marina and I made her a cake and took it to her.

July 4

We had a terrific Fourth of July weekend. Lisa slaved away in the kitchen all day and made some good food. Let's see...she made brisket, homemade ice-cream and a yummy red, white and blue cake. Not to mention the hand squeezed lemonade and grilled veggies. It was some good stuff.

Angie, Darla and Gerald came over for dinner and then when it got dark we shot fireworks. Marina, like every year, didn't like the loud ones so she stayed inside half the time. Mike and Cherlyn Berry and Ronny and his kids came over later on that nite to watch the fireworks and have some cake.

Our sink and toilet finally came in for the kids bathroom. We had to special order the color so it took a while but it was worth it. It is cobalt blue which is kind of a navy-purplish color. It is really pretty and goes perfect with the bathroom. All we have to do now is to put in some lighting and we will be all done.

June 26

This weekend we went up to Monroe City, MO for the yearly Reno-Johnson Reunion. There were quite a few people there; mostly Reno's. It was a lot of fun. We arrived in town about 2:00, checked into the hotel then went up to Hannibal, MO which is known for Mark Twain. They had some neat shops downtown; right on the river. Then we headed back to the Reunion that started about 5:00 with a nice cookout.

After the Reunion and right before it got dark we went across the street to a little amusement park. The kids rode some little rides and even talked Angie and Amie into riding the bumper boats. It was a lot of fun.

Sunday morning, before we headed out, we all got together again for breakfast where everybody said their good-byes.

Lisa and Belinda took the kids to Silver Dollar City today. The met Gina, Kevin and the girls there. Marina even rode the Fire in the Hole with Kevin. They had a lot of fun. Here are some pictures.

June 05

We went up to Leavenworth today for CJ's birthday party. Three years old...what a big boy! It was a nice party; windy but nice. There was quite a few people there including Chip's mom Cecilia who flew in from Houston.

After the party we met Amie and Angie at The Rain Forest Cafe for an early dinner before heading back. It was a pretty neat place. The inside in all fixed up to look like a jungle and, of course, a Rain Forest. It is a cool place to take the kids to. They have a lot of mechanical figures like Alligators, Elephants, Gorillas and so on.

June 01

Jantzen and Marina started a one month "summer Kindergarten" class. It is designed to get them ready for Kindergarten in August. It is from 7:45 till 12:45  Monday-Friday so it is pretty much like the real thing. It is even at the new Kindergarten they built this year. Click HERE for a picture.

May 31

OK...so I am back. As you have figured out by now, we have been pretty busy around here. We have been going to Kansas City quite a bit for one reason or the other That is why I have not updated this site in a couple months. So I will try to fill you in on what has been going on around here lately.

May 28

We celebrated Memorial Day by going over to Uncle Karen's farm. Him and Gerald cleared a big area down by the creek so we could have a little picnic and do some fishing. We had a nice little gathering; Lisa's Uncle Bob, his wife Wanda, Ronnie and all his kids, Angie, Amie, Darla, Gerald, Mike and Cherlyn Berry and us 4. It was a beautiful day and there were plenty of trees to give us some nice shade. Lisa did quite a bit of fishing (who knew?). She must have caught 7 or 8 little fish including a little bull-head. The kids had a lot of fun running around and doing some fishing of their own.

May 19

This was the last day of Pre-school for Jantzen and Marina. It was held in the park. They even packed a lunch.

May 18

Jantzen and Marina had their Pre-School Graduation tonight. They had a "Last Day of School" program followed by the giving out of the "diplomas.

May 8

This weekend we went to St. Louis. We got Gerald tickets to the Cardinal's game for his birthday. They were awesome seats! Front row, right by the Cardinal dugout. There was nothing between us and the field but a 3 ft. wall. We were about 100 ft. from Mark Maguire and 1st Base.

Actually it was pretty big weekend. We were celebrating Gerald's birthday, Mother's Day and our Anniversary.

We got into St. Louis about noon and checked into our hotel. Then we headed downtown to this old train station that has been converted into a HUGE complex. They had everything from paddleboats to a Hard Rock Cafe. We ate at Landry's and then for some reason I wanted to take Jantzen on a paddleboat ride (must be the dad in me). Let me give you a little hint; DO NOT go for a paddleboat ride on a full stomach especially if you are the one doing all the paddling. I thought I was gonna float some chunks into that pretty water. After I made it into shore we headed inside to do a little shopping and then went back to the hotel to rest before the game.

On Sunday we had a nice breakfast at the hotel restaurant then we went to the St. Louis Arch. We strolled around the area while we were waiting for our turn to go up into the Arch. It was pretty interesting going up to the top. You ride in this little bity pod that only holds 5 people. Then you get out at the top and look out these little windows to see the city. Then you hop back in the pod and go back down.

March 29

We went up to Kansas City this weekend for the Celine Dion concert. We stayed at the Westin and headed to the concert on Monday night and then to the Zoo on Tuesday.

It was a good concert. I am not a big Celine Dion fan but I tell you, that girl can sing. She gave it her all for two hours. She received standing ovations for almost every song. My favorite part was when she came out in a white suit and did the whole John Travolta dance number from Saturday Night Fever. It was pretty cool. She had the whole place going.

March 20

Jantzen got a new big kid bed today. He hasn't been sleeping too well lately so we thought maybe he needed his very own bed. Click here to see a pic of it.

March 6

Lisa took the kids up to Kansas City to the Children's Museum today. She wanted to go to the zoo but it was too cold.

March 3

Today was my 30th Birthday. It was a pretty good day. After we took the kids to school Lisa took me to my present; a flying lesson!!! Can you believe it? She took me to the Airport and dropped me off. The instructor showed me the ins and outs of the plane (a little Cessna 172) and then we headed off. It was pretty wild. I got to take the yoke and do some rolls and everything. It was awesome. I think I will go for my pilot license now. I will probably never use it but it will still be fun. I have another lesson next week.

Jantzen and Marina got me some neat little picture frames and some balloons. Darla and Gerald came over that night and we had dinner. They gave me some money for my "basketball goal fund".

Thanks to everyone for all the cards, e-mails and gifts you sent me.

February 27

We finally got our van back and we headed to Tulsa this weekend. Lisa had a CME convention to attend so the kids and I tagged along. The kids and I just kinda hung out and ordered room service. We had a huge room at the Doubletree Hotel with another adjoining suite so there was plenty of room for the kids to run around.

Then on Sunday we checked out and went to The Harmon Science Center. It was kinda like a Children's Museum. It was pretty neat. Then we headed home.

February 26

The Painters are officially done with the kids bathroom. I have to admit I was pretty skeptical as the work was in progress; it was getting pretty wild but everybody kept telling me to wait until it's done. And sure enough when it was all done it was pretty cool. Now all we need to do is get a new sink and toilet and the bathroom will also be functional.

February 23

Today was Jantzen and Marina's birthday. They went to school and got to sit in the Birthday Chair and have their picture taken. Then Lisa and I picked them up and we headed to Joplin to pick up the present Lisa and I got them; a cool ride along Jeep. They are having a blast with it! We even had to buy an extra battery. Two kids two batteries right?

February 20

Today was the day; the kids birthday party. There were quite a few kids here this year running around but it went pretty smooth. All the Thomas the Tank party stuff came out great including the cake we had made. The weather was a little windy and nippy but wasn't too bad. The kids really enjoyed the train ride around the block. Of course Jantzen and Marina received tons of presents. As a matter of fact they are still opening them.

February 11

Not much exciting going on around here. Lisa is still getting the kids bathroom ready to paint. She is almost done actually. She and Gerald have done a lot of work on it. The painters come next Monday to start putting some paint up. It should be really cool. I will put up some "work in progress" pics when I get the chance.

I have been busy getting together stuff for the kids birthday party. It is going to be a Thomas the Tank theme this year. We even hired a guy to come give train rides to the kids. It is called Grandpas Train. He was here at Apple Days in October so you might remember him.

I have also been getting Valentines together from the kids. That is a lot of work but so much fun. Darla put a Valentine thing in the paper yesterday from the Grandparents. It was cute. Click here to see it.

It has also been a crazy month for our van. As you may or may not know, somebody rear-ended Lisa on the highway a few months ago. Hardly any damage. Well, last Sunday a Pizza Hut delivery driver clipped the van while she was pulling out of the parking lot. She put some pretty good scratches and dents on it. Now, come to find out, her insurance company will most likely not pay the claim because she was not supposed to be using her car for business use, i.e. delivery pizza. So now it looks like we will have to sue Pizza Hut. Great. Here is a pic.

Jantzen & Marina also made some awesome cupcakes this weekend. Click here to see a funny pic.

February 6

Tammy, CJ and Raina came down and spent the weekend with us. It was a lot of fun. Raina is just a walkin' everywhere! CJ even went to Sunday school with Jantzen and Marina. Click here for pic 1, pic 2 and pic 3.

January 16

We had another big weekend. Saturday we went to Raina's birthday party in Leavenworth. One year old! Unbelievable. Where has the time gone? She is such a cutie.

We spent the night at the Westin hotel and Sunday morning we went over to the Hyatt and had a nice brunch. Then we headed to the Dinosaur exhibit. It is a company from Russia that tours all over the world with these Dinosaur skeletons and fossils that have been uncovered; some as far back as the 1800's. it was so neat. It was also ironic because the kids are learning about Dinosaurs at preschool this month. Click here to see the brochure.

January 14

Jantzen and Marina finally had their Christmas program at school this morning. I say finally because it was supposed to be on the Tuesday before Christmas but bad weather closed the schools. Anyway, they did real good. They did quite a few songs including The 12 Days of Christmas in which Jantzen did the part of 7 Superheroes. It was pretty cute. They all had on matching sweatshirts that they made at school. Click here for pic 1 and pic 2.

January 10

Didn't do a lot this weekend. We played a couple neat board games; DISNEY TRIVIAL PURSUIT and JUNIOR MONOPOLY. They are both real fun games to play with kids 4 and up. On Sunday we went to see A Bug's Life at the Plaza Theater here. It was a cute show.

January 2, 1999

Lisa and Marina went to Lauren & Alana's birthday party. It was a dress up party so Jantzen thought it would be a good idea to stay home with me. Click here for pic 1, pic 2 and pic 3.

December 28

Lisa, Darla and the kids went to Branson to see the "Festival of Lights". They said it was quite impressive...unlike anything they had ever seen before.

December 26

Lisa and Darla took the kids to see Prince of Egypt at the Plaza theatre here in town. The kids really liked it.

December 25

Christmas Day is here!! We all got to bed late the night before so we didn't wake up till 8:00 (can you believe it?). Santa was pretty good to the kids. The each got big kid bikes. They were so excited. We even went out to ride them for a little bit this afternoon. They didn't do too bad. Jantzen & Marina also received a new pet from Toby and Amie...an Iguana named Iggy. He is pretty cute. The kids are having a good time with him. Of course they want to let him out every minute.

December 20

We woke up to some COLD weather. Not at all like it was the day before. We checked out of the Ritz and headed to Leavenworth to have our party with the Davis'. It is always good to see all the "Leavenworth people". Jantzen and Marina just love it there. Grandpa Joe has a pool table and a little poodle that keeps the kids busy for hours. Now that my sister is up there we will definitely be spending more time up there. My dad's wife, Terrie, made some great food.

We headed out about 3:30 because the kids had a church play they were in at 7:00 so we headed out with plenty of time to spare...so we thought. About an hour into our drive home (around Harrisonville) we hit major traffic. We were at a total stand-still. We didn't move for almost an hour. Come to find out later, there was a multi-car wreck a couple miles ahead of us. So what was supposed to be a 2 1/2 hour trip home turned into a 4 hour trip and the kids missed their play. Lisa was really sad. She had made the kids some angel wings and shepherd outfits. They had also been practicing their songs almost every night. But at least we made it home safe and sound. There was a lot of ice and the road and we saw many accidents.

December 19

We didn't have to be to the Burns' party until 3:00 so we headed down to the Plaza to do some shopping. Of course we had to go to FAO Shwartz  and The Great Train Store. The kids really enjoyed that. Then we headed to the party. There was a lot of people there again this year. There was also quite a few kids running around this year including Cali, Makynzie, CJ, Raina and Mariah. It was neat to see all those kids playing with each other. It reminded me of when I was a kid and my sister and I got to play with Kim, Michelle, Tim, Doug, Kelley and Jimmy. Anyway...it was a good party. Kathy has such a beautiful house and, of course, there was lots of good eating.

December 18

This is the weekend we celebrate up in Kansas City. First the Burns' party on Saturday and then the Davis' party on Sunday. For four years we have wanted to take the kids up to see the Plaza lights. So we thought this was the year. We spent Friday night and Saturday night at the Ritz Carlton on the Plaza. It had a beautiful room with a great view of the Plaza lights. Jantzen and Marina really thought it was cool.

December 13

Jantzen Jay and I went to our first Kansas City Chiefs game at Arrowhead. It was against the Dallas Cowboys. Jantzen thought it was cool being up so high. I wasn't too amused. It just showed me how out of shape I was and that I paid too much for these tickets. But it was the thought that counts; we got to see our first Chiefs game together. Maybe next year we can do a Royals baseball game. Lisa had to work so I dropped of Marina at my Aunt Kathy's house. Marina said they had a lot of fun together.

December 12, 1998

The fountain I bought Lisa for her birthday is finally made. I went down to Joplin to pick it up today. That baby IS heavy. Click here for a pic.
